Clearing the Air: Housing.Cloud’s Commitment to Growth and Innovation
This feels like a ridiculous blog post to write, but as more and more outlandish rumors reach us from clients and prospective customers, we feel compelled to set the record straight about Housing.Cloud’s unwavering commitment to this industry and our strong growth trajectory.
A Rising Force in Student Housing
When we first launched, most of the legacy software providers in our space dismissed us as a minor nuisance. But in just a few years, over 50 schools have ditched StarRez, Adirondack, Mercury, eRezLife, MCR and spreadsheets to adopt Housing.Cloud, the powerful, modern platform that redefines campus living management.
As we continue to gain momentum, some incumbents have responded not with innovation, but with misinformation. Their sales teams have resorted to baseless rumors and falsehoods in an attempt to slow the inevitable shift toward a better, more modern solution at Housing.Cloud.
When we recently were awarded one of the largest contracts in the country from a major school system, the rumors have gotten more ridiculous. To that end, let’s make a few things abundantly clear:
Setting the Record Straight
1. Housing.Cloud is NOT for sale.
We have never been for sale, nor have we ever shopped our company for acquisition or engaged with an investment bank on the matter. Like many fast-growing companies, we receive unsolicited inquiries from buyers—but we politely decline every invitation to even entertain the conversation. Why? Because we’re just getting started. Housing.Cloud is focused on building a thriving, independent software company that is here to stay. With strong financials, deep backing, and a long-term vision, we are committed to transforming student housing technology by creating a Residential Information System (RIS)—a platform that encompasses every aspect of the campus living experience to complement your Student Information System (SIS).
2. No Housing.Cloud customer has abandoned us for an incumbent.
Despite what some competitors might claim, not a single customer has switched from Housing.Cloud to an incumbent platform.
The closest thing to this happening? Last year, one school signed a contract with us before realizing—after their procurement team found an error in their contracts system—that they still had two years left on their existing contract. As a good partner, we allowed them to exit the contract before it got started. But here’s the kicker: that school fully intends to leave their current provider and join Housing.Cloud as soon as their contract is up. In fact, they have referred two of their sister schools to us, and those are proudly clients of Housing.Cloud today.
3. Our team is not trying to leave Housing.Cloud.
Rumors that our team is jumping ship couldn’t be further from the truth. In fact, no professional has ever willingly quit Housing.Cloud.
Yes, one of our sales team members accepted an interview with a UK-based incumbent, curious about their aggressive recruiting tactics aimed at our team. But here’s what actually happened after one chat with the competitor: our teammate stayed put. In fact, our most recent job posting for sales managers and customer success staff attracted over a dozen candidates currently working at legacy student housing software companies—all eager to join Housing.Cloud.
We’re not losing people—we’re becoming the place where the best talent in the industry wants to work.
The Bottom Line
Housing.Cloud isn’t going anywhere except up in the charts of the top housing platforms.
We’re winning new business, hiring top talent, and continuing to build the industry’s most powerful student housing platform—one that institutions actually love to use.
If our competitors had a product that could compete with ours, they wouldn’t need to spread rumors. Instead of engaging in misinformation campaigns, they might consider investing that energy into actually improving their platforms.
For now, we’ll continue doing what we do best: building the future of student housing technology.
