Position Description

As the VP of Engineering, you will be responsible for setting and executing Housing.Cloud’s engineering strategy, fostering a culture of innovation, and building scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure. Reporting directly to the CTO, you will work closely with cross-functional leadership to align engineering goals with company objectives, drive continuous improvement, and ensure efficient delivery of high-quality products. Your leadership will enable Housing.Cloud to push boundaries in student housing management.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Set and execute the engineering vision, ensuring alignment with business goals and the scalability of our platform.

  • Team Building & Management: Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ownership, and innovation.

  • Scalability & Architecture: Oversee technical architecture and ensure the platform can scale to meet the needs of a growing user base.

  • Process Optimization: Establish and optimize development processes to enhance team efficiency, code quality, and delivery timelines.

  • Security & Reliability: Ensure that the platform meets the highest standards of security and reliability, addressing both technical and regulatory requirements.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and other leadership teams to align engineering efforts with broader company objectives.

  • Budget & Resource Management: Manage engineering budgets, tools, and vendor relationships to ensure cost-effective scaling of the platform.

  • Innovation & Technology Roadmap: Stay ahead of emerging trends and technologies to guide the evolution of our tech stack and maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 5+ years in a senior leadership role such as Director, Head of Engineering, or VP.

  • Extensive experience with modern web technologies, including frameworks like Next.js and databases like PostgreSQL. Strong understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Supabase, Vercel) and serverless architectures.

  • Proven ability to lead, scale, and inspire engineering teams in a high-growth environment.

  • Experience setting and executing a technical strategy that supports business objectives and scales with growth.

  • Expertise in establishing development processes, CI/CD pipelines, and Agile workflows to optimize team efficiency.

  • Strong understanding of data security, role-based access control, and compliance standards.

  • Experience managing engineering budgets and allocating resources effectively.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with Cloudflare or similar hosting solutions to ensure security and load balancing.

  • Experience with accessibility standards and best practices to create inclusive interfaces.

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring that our infrastructure remains reliable, secure, and optimized to support a growing user base. This is an exciting opportunity to work with cutting-edge tools and play a vital role in Housing.Cloud’s technical evolution. You will design and implement CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployment processes and minimize downtime. Additionally, you will monitor system performance, troubleshoot critical issues, and ensure the scalability of our platform to meet future demands
