Every fall, a student who loves their room asks: “Can I just keep it next year?” Same room selection makes the answer yes, without the spreadsheet and the careful bed-holding.
Let residents keep the bed they’re in. Add a same room phase to the cycle, with its own dates, tags and blocked rooms, before general selection opens
A clear yes or no for students. Residents see their current room, next term’s rate and a decide-by date. Roommates see each other’s answers, but nobody’s decision depends on anyone else’s
Empty beds don’t go to waste. When a roommate says no, whoever said yes first can invite a friend or leave the bed open. Students can take a released bed back while it’s still unclaimed
Set the rules once per cycle. Choose whether everyone must declare, auto-approve or staff review, and group eligibility. Add a policy message residents see right where they decide
Fewer “can I keep my room?” emails. More students who already know where they’re living next year.
Where to find it: Add a same room selection phase in your housing cycle
