Housing.Cloud — H1 2026: What We Released, Why It Matters, and What's Next

Team Housing.Cloud

Team Housing.Cloud

Everything Housing.Cloud built in the first half of 2026 — and the philosophy behind it.

Housing teams don’t need more software — they need workflows that hold up during peak move-in, billing, and closeout, and a true partner in the student housing experience — helping reduce student stress, improve retention outcomes, and make it easier for staff to support students day to day.

In the first half of 2026, Housing.Cloud released 272 customer-visible improvements across 20 weekly releases — roughly one per week. (Later in this post, we break out what’s fully available to every customer vs. what’s still in early access.) 81% of those enhancements were driven directly by school feedback. When multiple schools ask for the same thing, it moves up — that’s how the roadmap works.

Here’s what we released, why it matters, and what’s next.

H1 Highlights (the quick version)

  • 272 customer-visible improvements across 20 weekly releases (H1 2026)

  • Major upgrades to Tasks, Forms, Room Condition Reports, and mobile admin workflows

  • Faster, more accountable communications with more robust notification logs + delivery tracking

  • A rebuilt finance interface with advanced scheduled billing features and more intuitive user balances and statements

  • New integrated products: Mailroom & Package Management, Visitor Management, and Student Staff Hiring

  • Coming next: Scheduled Outreach — make proactive resident support part of the workflow with structured, scheduled interactions

  • Coming next: Retention Engine — turn outreach + Net Promoter Score (NPS) surveying + interaction signals into early visibility into which students may need attention (and what to do next)

  • Coming next: workflow-first AI — a transparent, plain-English interface to find the right residents, filter the right lists, and take the next step, with FERPA-aligned controls

Our Core Platform Got Faster and Stronger

These enhancements are part of the core Housing.Cloud platform, the engine that drives all our tools and features. These improvements were designed to make housing operations feel calmer, clearer, and more student-friendly — a stronger experience for residents and the teams who serve them. We grouped them by the areas that matter most:

Staff Efficiency & Operations (~40% of enhancements)

Housing teams spend their days in tasks, forms, room condition reports, and admin workflows. We invested heavily in making those workflows faster.

Housing Help Desk Enhancements (learn more) — Email reply-to-comment, unread tracking with update badges, full edit history with field-level changes, inline editing, student editability controls, and category task limits. Tasks went from a simple checklist to a real workflow tool.

Admin Portal Mobile Expansion — Even more admin workflows now have custom mobile versions that look and feel great on your mobile browser, including tasks, room-change requests, duty logs, inventory. Your staff shouldn't need a desktop to do their jobs on-the-fly!

Room Condition Reports Redesign — Built for closeout season, when every minute matters. Faster, cleaner, built for the field — with improvements that make the workflow easier to run at scale.

Form Builder Redesign — A new tabbed layout, accordion question cards, centralized undo/redo with keyboard shortcuts, and AI-assisted editing for text enhancements and form generation.

Roles & Permissions Redesign — We made it easier to see permissions with side-by-side comparison, duplication, and field-level visibility control. Because "who can see what" shouldn't require a spreadsheet to manage.

Workflow Builder — Build and automate common processes with a visual workflow builder — custom nodes, insert between steps, task-based actions, cancel and re-run.

Form Auto-Save — Student-facing forms now auto-save as students type. Browser crash, closed tab, lost connection — progress is preserved.

Advanced Export Column Selector — Pick exactly which columns to include before any export — profiles, residents, tasks, transactions, and more.

Expanded Notification Logs — We improved our searchable record of every notification sent — email, SMS, and in-app — with per-channel delivery status, recipients, content, and timing. SMS delivery is tracked end-to-end. Filter by notification type, title, recipient, and date.

More School Branding — Tune every brand-coupled color with separate light and dark mode values, live preview, and contrast checks.

Occupancy Graph Improvements — A color-coded status palette, resident column with lifecycle status, summary strip with per-status counts, search across all inventory, and automatic refresh after any change.

Student Experience (~25% of enhancements)

The moments students interact with housing should be fast, clear, and mobile-friendly.

The Key Dates Tool — A student-facing chronological timeline showing every milestone in their housing cycle — key dates, next steps, and action items — so residents always know what's due and what's next. Admins configure dates and descriptions per phase, with a preview directly from the cycle editor.

Self Check-In — QR-code and verification-code self check-in from a student's phone. Generate and distribute codes in bulk with PDF export, and let residents check themselves in on arrival — no line, no staff needed.

Platform Speed & Improvement (~20% of enhancements)

The infrastructure investments you don't always see but always feel — especially during peak billing, move-in, and closeout cycles.

Scheduled Billing & User Balances — A new, intuitive finance interface for user balances aggregated by cycle with drill-through to any transaction, billing schedules with amortized assignment views, PDF statements, near-real-time balance recomputation, pro-rated refunds (including night-based proration), coattail transactions, and a guided credit-application flow.

Screenshot 2026-06-24 at 4.59.25 PM.png

Room & Suite Selection Performance Overhaul — The entire room and suite selection experience rebuilt for speed and scalability. Filtering, searching, and sorting rooms happens instantly — no more waiting for each filter change to reload. Handles significantly more concurrent students on selection day without slowdowns or timeouts.

Form Submissions are now ~23% Faster — Batched database operations for form answers, reducing database load.

Faster Admin Page Loads — Progressive table loading, faster dashboard metrics, and faster first navigations across heavy admin grids.

New AI Capabilities (~15%)

Net-new capabilities expanding what Housing.Cloud can do — including AI foundations.

Advanced Filters & AI Search — A redesigned advanced filter builder that reads like a sentence, with an AI filter generator that turns plain-English queries into structured filters. Plus an in-app AI assistant sidebar with streaming responses and persistent conversation history.

AI Importance Sort for Tasks — Sort your task list by AI-assessed importance with a single click. Each task carries a saved importance score and reasoning that refreshes automatically, with a live panel showing why each task was ranked.

Native Report Builder — A brand-new in-house reporting engine replacing embedded analytics. Build, configure, and run custom reports with a redesigned query builder — reference one metric from another, apply filters to individual totals, and schedule reports to run and email on a recurring basis. Full edit history with version restore and conflict detection.

The Platform Grows With You

Every school gets the complete housing operations platform at one price. For departments that manage more than core housing, these integrated products replace expensive standalone tools — all connected to your housing data, all on one platform — so you can move from housing as logistics to housing as experience.

Not hidden add-ons. Not modules you need to run housing. Purpose-built products for broader res life needs.

The value isn't just the product — it's that it lives on the same platform as your core housing operations. One login. Shared data. No integrations to maintain.

Housing.Cloud includes the core Student Housing platform, with Residence Life products available for teams that manage broader residence life operations.

Mailroom & Package Management

  • Replaces: Stand alone mail and package software, like PackageX

  • Status: Available now

  • Copy: Track packages from arrival to pickup, notify residents automatically, and manage mailroom operations — without paying for a separate vendor. All connected to your resident data.

Visitor Management

  • Replaces: Standalone visitor systems

  • Status: Available now

  • Copy: Log visitors, manage check-in policies, and keep an auditable record — built into the platform your front desk already uses for everything else.

Student Staff Hiring

  • Replaces: eRezLife

  • Status: Available now

  • Copy: Post positions, collect applications, and manage the hiring pipeline for RAs and student workers — connected to your staff assignments and scheduling from day one.

Scheduled Outreach

  • Status: Coming August ‘26

  • Copy: Schedule outreach with students, manage on-call rotations with automatic escalation, and give every responder a live shift dashboard — all wired into your existing resident and staff data.

  • Note: “Outreach” represent scheduled interactions with students, built on the existing Interactions feature.

Coming Q4’26: Housing.Cloud Retention Engine — More to come.

How We Support What We Release

Releasing fast only matters if the experience behind it is solid. In May 2026, Housing.Cloud maintained a 100% customer satisfaction score — with feedback highlighting quick responses, clear communication, and a support team that understands housing operations. Our Help Center continues to grow as a self-service resource, and support volume is declining year-over-year even as we onboard new institutions.

Where We're Headed

We don't share a detailed public roadmap — but we can tell you where we're investing as your partner in the student housing experience.

AI That Works for Housing — Not the Other Way Around

We're building AI into the actual workflows you run every day — not as a chatbot gimmick or a set of prompts to help you configure your system. AI that makes your team faster after you're live.

AI-powered search — Type what you need in plain English — "third floor West Hall residents who haven't completed room condition reports" — and get the list. No multi-step filters or exports.

Grounding note: what’s live today includes an “Ask AI” filter generator inside Advanced Filters and an in-app AI assistant sidebar (early access/alpha), and we’re building from there.

Guided self-service for students — Students ask the platform questions — "can I switch rooms after the deadline?" — and get real answers based on your school's policies. Even at 11pm on a Sunday.

“We're excited to be among the first institutions exploring Housing.Cloud's AI tools. The ability to interact with housing data in a more intuitive way has the potential to streamline our operations, improve decision-making, and help our team spend less time searching for information and more time supporting students.”

Aaron E. Johnson

Associate Director for Housing Operations, Loyola University New Orleans

Continued Investment Areas

Platform speed & resilience — Ongoing performance work, resilience improvements, audit log visibility, and the predictable release cadence we've maintained all year.

Staff efficiency & resident experience — Continued investment in workflows that reduce manual work for admins and improve key resident moments.

How We Build

Three principles that have shaped everything you see on this page:

Partner-informed roadmap — 81% of our enhancements came from direct partner conversations. We track which schools requested what. When multiple schools ask for the same thing, it moves up.

Quality-first release cadence — 200+ releases in six months, with a predictable monthly rhythm that includes partner preview and testing windows. We don't launch and hope.

Accessibility & privacy by default — WCAG alignment, FERPA-aligned data handling, standard higher ed SSO and SIS integrations. Built in, not bolted on.
